Today I drove down to the little Holiday gas station because they were offering a steal-of-a-deal: any size fountain drink for 99 cents. When I returned to my car with my obscenely large dose of soda, this was parked next to me.
Yes, that bumper (or in this case, passenger door) sticker says "Get In, Hold On, Shut Up." Yes, it features elements of the American flag. And I'm sure the driver never intends to wash off those mud splashes. This is quite the image. Road Rage, an American tradition since 1973.
As I drove out of the parking lot, I couldn't help but take a gander of what his actual bumper displayed. More American flag writing addressed to those who don't speak English to "Learn the language or get out."
This world is frightening. It made me want to start leaving uplifting windshield notes on every car, especially that truck.
"Keep on smiling."
"You're doing a good job."
"Happy Monday!"
"Inhale, exhale. And smell the roses."
"The world is a better place because you're here!"
Because sometimes, people just need to CHILL OUT.

It's been years since I've put a bumper sticker on my car... but in my youth, my pick-up had the following stickers...
"On A Mission"
"92 Kiss Fm"
"I'd Rather Be In Hawaii"
"Meridian Warriors"
... and my license plate said
"Have A Nice Day"
You and I must be two apples that fell from the same tree.
Oh, and I had one of those silly yellow signs in the window that said "Party Animal On Board" Mmmm... those were the days.
