Before leaving the Portland area, I drove down to Seaside with Crystal and her mom. The sun of the early afternoon disappeared more and more the closer we got to the ocean. Figures.
As we headed toward the water, we noticed a red blanket with oodles of seagulls around and on top of it. We couldn't figure out what would attract so many birds to one place. I got out my camera, just to capture how many birds there were, and right as I zoomed in to take the picture, a woman emerged!!:
Those birds had been had! The girl got up, gave a high-five to her friend, and the two skipped along the beach with their red blanket. Probably the craziest beach scene I have ever witnessed (and luckily captured).
Always on the search for sand dollars, I tend to find more of these less desirable (and less take-homeable) things:
Hurray for cold ocean breezes on the eve of summer!

one of the benefits of going to the beach during a less desirable time of year...when it's rainy and cold (i.e. 1st week of june) is that you find so many sand dollars that you have to force yourself to stop! sis, i have plenty from Seaside and we'll be happy to share! :-) Love you! that picture is hysterical by the way!
