Chicago crew

My traveling pals were
1) Brooke:

2) Nick:

3) Little Italian Bunny:

Our first night in town, we ate at a place called Bar Louie in Little Italy on Taylor Street. It was recommended by our Marriot front desk friend (we'll just call her Jenny) who clearly spoke Chicagoan and was concerned for our fun time. Our other Marriot front desk friend Sabrina, who we are convinced was once a Scandanavian Ice Princess (visit her blog at www.sabrinaatyourservice.blogspot.com), tried to convince us to eat at the hotel restaurant. We decided was the most ridiculous idea since we were, well, in Chicago.

So, Bar Louie. Our conversation over dinner was pretty much "Chicago!", "We're in Chicago!", and "Yeah...Chicago!" Just kidding, but really, we were thrilled about our location. It was late when we walked back to the hotel, which was when we encountered the bunny in the snow. I was hoping it would hop along in front of us and show us the sights of the city. Instead, it just hung out on that patch of snow for a long time.

Whenever I eat something that I really love, my mom has pointed out that I make an audible "mmmmm." I do it without really thinking about it, but my mom always notices it and it's how she knows she's cooked up a hit. I've discovered a similar habit whenever I am walking around somewhere and enjoying my surroundings, which is I tend to start singing lines from songs that remind me of anything I see or think of. I remember doing this a lot on each trip I've taken to Germany, and to Rome, and sometimes even on my walks to Rosauers (not in the winter, though, ha). And now, my apologies to Brooke and Nick, because I found myself doing that a LOT in Chicago. Talk about cooking up a hit - this city really went all out.
