We went to the Nutcracker last weekend, which, consequently, was the last weekend that Rachel would ever be 7 years old again. As of Friday, she is all of 8. These hallmarks for Rachel are also sort of hallmarks for me. When I arrived in Spokane, a newbie college co-ed, and 18 years old, Rachel was about 9 months old. When she was learning to walk, I was learning what major I should pursue. As I prepared to enter the workforce, she was preparing to enter kindergarten. Last week when I went to her piano recital, I felt honored when one of the mothers told me she saw a strong resemblence between the two of us. Well, it's only natural, isn't it? We've practically grown up together.
