Sugary Saturday
It's always around this time of year that I open up my baking drawer and pull out a rolling pin and some cookie cutters, then grab my Best Recipe cookbook and a pound of butter and get to work.
I decided that since I was to babysit a couple of nieces who are into all things creative, I should lighten my decorative load by giving them the fun job of icing and sprinkling.
No matter how hyped up sugar can make you after sampling the icing, when you're frosting the delicate edges and contemplating which embellishments to top the cookies, everything gets very very quiet. William was napping, so this was great.
Once again, my aunt duties kicked in and I let them go for it. But only a couple finger-licks worth.
They quickly learned that after spending so much time making your cookies look just right, it's hard to choose the first one to bite into. But it didn't take them that long to decide.

Those nieces have some cheekbones! :) I knew that you did some baking, but I've slacked on your blog for a week or so, and damn, I had no idea you cooked up SUCH a frenzy. Which is so exciting as I've turned over that new leaf of wax paper myself. :)
