Cakes and rain

Perfect, absolutely perfect, weekend. It promptly began to rain as I drove away from work on Friday night, so what did I do? I went grocery shopping. It was a fierce hunt for bargains on a Friday night. First, I took the Grocery Outlet by storm, followed by World Market since they sell cumin for 99 cents (and Lord knows how much I need cumin). Then I headed to Albertsons to snatch up their incredible deal on yogurt, Super 1 for their insanely low price for Tillamook butter ($1.98, who does that?), and Rosauers for pretty much everything else. I made a savory potato and garlic soup, and ended the evening by starting on a birthday cake creation. Because that is the absolute best thing to do when it is cold and rainy and you don't feel like going out.

So yesterday we celebrated Crystal's birthday a little early. I figured since we were celebrating early, why not celebrate her 124th birthday EXTRA early?

I can't help but love those candy letters. This was just one variation on the final cake message.
