If only there were a June 31...

Life is just a bowl of cherries, so they say. I have been surrounded by fruit all week, so I'm thinking that life is more of a boat-load of cherries. Or when it rains, it pours cherries all over my kitchen counter. I was bestowed with the blessing of like 5 pounds (!) of cherries last Sunday night from a fellow programmer at KYRS. I thought I would do something with them, you know, like something culinarily creative. But in the end, all that became of them were a pile of pits and stems, no pies, no tarts, no jams, no black forest cakes, no liqueurs. Just me chomping down on half a tree's worth.

My recent trip to Spokane's bountiful countryside seems to have inspired an onslaught of "Isn't that just perfectly lovely?"-type photos. I was walking home from Rosauers (to buy pectin to make a jam out of that flat of strawberries -- determined NOT to eat those one by one), and my only wish was that Nat King Cole was there to nuzzle up to me with a pretzel and a beer singing about rolling out "those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer." My next pictures may be of pretzels and beer. That sounds really nice.
